1. I have a Forty 4012MH model speaker. Which amplifier should I use to drive it in the best way?
Usually an amplifier is used that can deliver (at the nominal impedance of the speaker) double the RMS acoustic power handled by the load applied, i.e. by the speaker. In the example in question, the speaker has 250 W RMS power handling, so you need to use a 500 W amplifier..
2. I have a Forty 4012MH model speaker. How many subwoofers do I need to use to have perfect reinforcement on the low and ultra-low frequencies?
Exactly double! One head or satellite - the 4012MH model in the example in question - is usually associated with two subwoofers - the 40SW15 model, in this case. Only if the subwoofers contain two loudspeakers (dual subwoofers), the ratio goes down to 1:1.
3. What type of connection do the Peecker Sound power amplifiers have?
The speaker outputs are of two types: one with screw terminal, the other with SpeakOn. The input signals all use the XLR connector.
4. If I decide to buy a self-powered speaker of the Forty series and the related active subwoofer, how do I connect them?
The two speakers are both powered from the electrical mains by means of the PowerCon cable; for greater convenience the power supply can be "linked" from one element to the other via a PowerCon link cable. The signal is carried by means of XLR connector to either one of the two elements and conveyed via the link output (not filtered) by means of a second XLR cable.
5. Which configuration should be used for simultaneous sound reinforcement for a 20-square metre stage and an audience seating area of a medium-large venue (capacity up to 200) in which live music is played (jazz, R&B, etc.)?
You just need a single Upturned T system consisting of one PSUTBASE/A active subwoofer + one PSUT8AE column + one PSUT8TE column. If situated at the end of the stage, slightly off-centre and angled, this "active stack" audio system will provide all the coverage required with a vivid and well-balanced sound.
6. How do you amplify a system made up of PSUT1 speakers and PSUTS subwoofers?
All the speakers are equipped with passivecrossover, thus allowing the connection to a single amplification channel. One channel of a Peecker Sound amplifier (e.g. the PS1000 model) can power up to two PSUTS subwoofers in parallel and four PSUT1 speakers in series-parallel connection. This does not eliminate the possibility of bi-amplification, with the optional use of the PS266 processor.
7. I am a qualified acoustic technician: does the JA12 comply with the laws on acoustic pollution (in Italy No. 447)?
Yes, all the certifications can be viewed in the dedicated section of our website (Acoustic Research). I would add that a dedicated amplifier is available (JA1060 model), with built-in pink noise generator. The whole system can be remote-controlled and without connection to the electrical mains thanks to the special accessories (JA-BT battery and JA-RC remote control).
8. I have a 50-60 square metre dance floor: which Double Array speaker should I use?
The AS120 Crossfire model double array speaker is perfect for covering an area of that size and a strong sound decay outside of it.
9. When should I choose the AS180?
When you want more power on the low frequencies and you have somewhat less rigid requirements for acoustic containment of the sound reproduced.
10. What does the DP60/120 processor consist of, and how is it connected?
The DP60/120 is simultaneously an active processor and a passive crossover, designed for the Double Array Series. The audio signal enters the processor and is processed dynamically and equalized, then it is sent to an external amplifier (e.g. the PS3400 model). Post-amplification, the signal is returned to the passive crossover, which generates the power signals and sends them to the woofers and horns of the Double Array speakers.
11. Is software available for the Peecker Sound amplifiers?
Yes, there are two software applications currently available: PSDSP for the PSDSP series amplifiers and Digital Speaker for the PS Series. Both enable you to connect from PC via the RS232 port (or where necessary with an RS232/USB adapter) and modify the routing settings and all the audio parameters. The applications are available in the Support area of the website and are highly recommended for ensuring amplifier use at the highest performance and safety levels (they are essential for protecting the speakers of the system).
12. Can the audio parameters be modified without the aid of a PC?
Without using a PC, it is possible to directly adjust only the GAIN and to download preset programmes on the amplifier. To modify all the audio parameters, we recommend using the PS266 "intelligent" processor, which contains all the tools of the Peecker Sound software without having to use an external PC.
13. To achieve the right level, is it better to adjust the LIM or the GAIN control?
We recommend adjusting the GAIN to optimize the level of the processor and the LIM to prevent damage to the product connected.
14. Can the outputs of the PS series amplifiers be connected in bridge configuration?
The PS3400, PS2600 and PS2000 models cannot be used in bridge configuration. The PS1000, PS1600 and PS650-F models, on the other hand, can be used in bridge configuration. To use the bridge configuration, you have to switch the dedicated switch on the rear panel of the amplifier and connect the speaker to the output sockets as shown in the user manual.
15. Which components are fitted on the Peecker Sound speakers?
The choice of the components to be used on a Peecker Sound speaker is dictated first by the Engineering Department in the system design stage, which is based on a philosophy of absolutely no compromises. This means, using our acoustic speakers as the reference: a) choosing the best components available on the market; b) choosing the best component for a given function and for a given product, independently from the supplier. In fact, anyone who works in the industry knows that there is no single loudspeaker manufacturer that supplies the best products for every audio system type and application. The Peecker Sound design and engineering staff therefore chooses the woofer for a given speaker from a specific supplier - such as the Italian companies B&C, Ciare, 18sound or the German BMS - and from another supplier for another product with different functional and usage characteristics. In addition, inside a single Peecker Sound speaker you can find components made by various manufacturers. Obviously these choices are not made based on economic criteria, but with the purpose of guaranteeing the best quality of the final product. Another important aspect is that Peecker Sound was established in Italy in the early days of professional audio and, in the same period, loudspeaker manufacturers, including those mentioned above, were established that over the years have become leaders in the world market. The history of these companies therefore shows a shared path, also made of personal experiences between the members of the respective organizations, at all levels. Peecker Sound has developed such a close relationship with the Italian acoustic transducer suppliers that not only has our company become a privileged customer, but we have often provided the specifications for producing the various transducers. In short, when the best doesn't exist... Peecker Sound has it made to measure.
16. Where can I listen to Peecker Sound audio systems?
Generally, we invite our customers to Reggio Emilia, to listen and have a hands-on experience with the audio products at our showroom. Alternatively, if you tell us where you are located, we can direct you to the nearest audio service centre or retailer to listen to the systems or simply to find out where they are installed. We often invite interested persons to visit a venue that uses the desired system so they can listen to it in the field.
What is the availability of the products for shipping and what are the conditions of payment?
The availability of our products varies depending on the period, but generally never more than two weeks from receiving the order. The conditions of payment for a first purchase are by advance bank draft or direct remittance (for the latter of payment we always offer a 5% discount). Other methods may be considered, but they will always be discussed and evaluated by the company management.
18. Who is the Peecker Sound distributor in my area?
Just go to the Sales section of the site and choose your country of reference. In countries where Peecker Sound has a direct presence, the commercial conditions will be stipulated following a careful examination by our Export Division.
19. How is the Peecker Sound brand positioned compared to the competition in the professional audio segment?
Peecker Sound is a historical name in the world audio panorama and is inextricably linked to the legendary amplification systems of Italian dance venues known worldwide since the early seventies, thanks to, among other things, the active participation of international stars of the likes of Tina Turner, Ray Charles, Barry White, Donna Summer, Sylvester and many more. Today Peecker Sound stands out from the competition for excellence in high quality sound reproduction, the sturdy design of its products and the meticulous attention to all the construction details (from the wood chassis of the speakers, to the grille, the crossover, the components integrated in the control electronics, etc.); all at a fair and affordable price thanks to the fact that we oversee every step of the production process.
In summary: Peecker Sound is rightly situated amongst the top brands in terms of quality, while remaining in a median and competitive price bracket.
